Jeff Richardson They say you should write about what you know. I find myself fascinated by the cover image for this record; just some ordinary scene of middle America as viewed from inside a passing car, or train. I stopped my wife as she was just passing by (she is no fan of metal) and asked her what she thought of this image: she simply said, "Pollution..., dreary." and that was all. Brock never left his home world; which is why he is so good at his craft.

Melancholic Rage Fan-fucking-tastic! Angry, emotive, aggressive, a-loaf-of-bread-carelessly-dangled-by-an-HVAC-system-while-wearing-sunglasses, ripped jeans, and a grinning-don't-give-a-fuck-what'll-happen-next-look type of music. Love it! Favorite track: Absurdism.

Did you want to open the box? And there’s the answer. To know why. Freedom we find. Tampering with the order of things holding true the paradox Your cognitive dissonance overtakes your ability to act rationally And you’re sure it’s out there It’ll free us all. You’ll chain death until he breaks free and toil for the rest of eternity. Causal reasoning and consequences have you questioning your place on earth. To put forth all you have in this life. Deny your own mortality. Take it by the reigns and know you never had to look. Each time the sun comes up, accept this world you can never understand. Feeling a sense of purpose, to stake your claim in the earth Daunting, the task it is. And you want to feel something more and break the chains that have been placed around you. So you can look them in the eyes. And say, “This is all mine.” Feeling a sense of purpose to stake your claim in the earth. Daunting, the task. And you want to feel something more and break the chains. That have been placed around you. So you can look them in the eyes. and say, “This all mine.” My own life. but when you look down at your feet and then look up to your hand that’s holding the key. You put you there. Exactly where you are right now. How did it come to this? When you look down, at your feet and then up to your hand, that’s holding key. You, put you there. Exactly where you are now. How did it come to this? It’s true. You want freedom. but the extent to which you can let yourself go is only as far as you’ll let yourself see.

A sunrise, pale and cold. The splendor of this world. Falling under the colors of haze. Feel the whisper of these broken limbs. Take one of each, one white, one clear. Let’s take off into whereever it goes. Don’t look. They are coming after you. Ergo, ergot has got you by the neck. Don’t struggle; take it all in. This what we are given from this indifferent world. This indifferent world. Be ready, we are not waiting for you. That is vanity. Don’t expect this all to make sense. Don’t expect this all to make sense. For just once can you fix your stare? On what this not your life. After all this time. This is all absurdity. You seek meaning. I haven’t said one thing to you. Seek out, whatever you can. You must take it all in. It won’t make a difference to them. Whoever they are. Just this once, a sunrise passed behind. Ergo, ergot has got you by the neck. Let this pass by. Just this once, a sunrise passed behind. Ergo, ergot has got you by the neck. Let this pass by. Let this pass by. Can it just be what we want it to be? We will see what we want to see. Can it just be what we want it to be? We will see what we want to see. Can it just be what we want it to be? We will see what we want to see. Can it just be what we want it to be? We will see what we want to see. But I will not let it be. This is not the way things are. Clouding my vision of what this world has to offer. Utter absurdity. Utter indifference. If this is what you call meaning, then existentialism is my forte. If this is what you call meaning, then pantheism is my forte. But I will not dwell on this line of reasoning. Of this line of reasoning.

Mount Carmel 19:49
In a dark night with longings kindled love. Oh blessed chance. I went forth without being Observed. My house already being at rest. The ends of the earth, the center of your mind. Breathing a wicked sunrise. Standing around the dissonance. Feeling the sounds of the opaque grin. A sight beyond your breath. I can’t see the word upon your brow. Can you swim to where I stand? I bowed to the colorful swarm decades of fear. Lustful and light. Trembling like a dove gone awry. I can’t see another feeble sigh. Did you want this light to lead you away and be with those you wish had stayed? Has life not held you by the hand to guide you right where you stand? Shout thy name, you pleasant swine. A cold dark stare, I’ll drink my wine. Blackened, crisp, and swarming near, gather ‘round for all to hear. Blackened, crisp, and swarming near, gather ‘round for all to hear. I am without essence. I am lost in existence. So loud they are yet they speak of nothing worthwhile. Real life awaits us.

I lost the silence Opened the void. The toil of man; a boulder and hill. Labor under the sun convinced of an answer. Devoid of meaning, in need of feeding. Looking in the reflection without inflection. The blankest stare looking back at you. Looking in the reflection without inflection. The blankest stare looking back at you. Looking back at me. what do you see? what do I see? A window of perception. Which one is true, a meaning or nothing? I’ve lost the silence and found the absurd. Look back at the stars and what do I see? A world passed me by and nothing to hold. Lost in the absurd, I find no release. I find no reprieve. No hold onto me. Lost in my mind. Locked in this room. the demons they come and gather around me. Was it all a dream? A dream I had, where I was a man. Where I felt alive. All I’ve ever known. All I ever did love. Exists inside me. Inside this room. There is freedom in losing hope. There is freedom in knowing yourself. In knowing yourself. There is freedom in knowing yourself. Looking back at me, what do you see? What do I see? A window of perception. Take back this life, it was yours to keep. Take back this world, only you knew it.

Absurdism 19:08
At the end of the day looking to the western sky. With nothing quite near, and nothing to come. I’ll let out a sigh, so deep but calm. I look to the sky, blackened and grim. Indifference, it wades in the sea of infinity. The stars are aligned. but tell nothing inside. A feeling so cold, each time I reach a peak. To fall straight below. To look up once again. Has this all been there to find no one? To burden this soul. To let go of this light. For in this dark sea, and in these dark skies, what light is there to hold this soul up from below? And at the end of the day, I’ll look to the sky. The sinking sun to light what’s below. And I’ll know why I dive into darkness. To swim in despair and to dim these lights. and to dim these lights. This creation and all can serve no one. But one can serve anyone and there can be light. To hold inside a thick despair and share a gift that means nothing. We hold silence in our hearts. And mournful we are when all is lost. For what cruel world, we find ourselves in. To see such despair and isolation only to be alone in the end. And at the end of the day, we are all alone to never be satisfied with who we had been. At the end of the day, we are alone to never be satisfied with who we had been. A thick cloud will shroud us all and when all the leaves have blown away, it’s today that we will live and tomorrow that we will die.

about

Recorded between July of 2015 and May of 2016 in Brock's home. Field recordings also took place in various locations around Indiana and Miami, Florida.

"Elusion" is the follow-up to 2015's "Entropy" and further explores the philosophical themes of that album and "Esoteric" from 2014. Elusion enters a different territory with its ambiguous message and its, at times, surreal lyrics. The songs begin in quiet places, accompanied by different field recordings, and take on different forms as the music progresses with different levels of intensity.
